General Map Navigation

The NFIS high resolution forest cover map for BC page is fully interactive. You can zoom in, zoom out, and pan around the map by clicking on it and dragging. The controls for zooming in and out are on the top left of the map.

Downloading historical map information

Some historical scans can be downloaded. To download this information, simply click on the map index and the information will be displayed below, if available.

Other Buttons

The layer selector on the top right of the map allows you to change the order, toggle on/off, and change opacity of all layers associated with that map.

The legend button will display a legend graphic for all layers currently VISIBLE on the map, if available.

This forest cover data was scanned from diapostivies (105mm) of Forest Inventory Series 1:15840 maps created in the 1960's and 1970's by the province of British Columbia. The collection of diapositvies are held in the map archives at the Pacific Forestry Centre. This product was developed with the an agreement between the Pacific Forestry Centre (NRCan) and the the province of British Columbia.
